50 Gold / 50 Silver

Today I decided to knuckle down to do some Christmas cards for 2012, I really love this card by just using Gold, Silver and White.  Its simple but elegant!
I recently bought Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine Issue 102, using their free gift Hot Off The Press Enchanted Christmas stamps I used their Reindeer, Tree and Joy stamp.  I really love the Swirl Floral and Snowflakes pattern in the Reindeer and the Tree, there is a close up of this further down the blog post.
I've used both Gold and Silver Mirror Card, glitter thread, punched snowflakes and star, outlines in tan and light grey and stamped in Gold and Silver Ink.

I punched out a gold and silver snowflake and added it to the opposite corner and also the opposite colour of the border, I also punched a gold star for the top of the tree.
For the background I debossed a piece of white card with Swiss Dots embossing folder from Provo Craft to make it like snow and matted it onto gold mirror card.
For the side panel I embossed a piece of white card with Swiss Dots embossing folder from Provo Craft and inked with gold and silver ink, I matted and layered the panel the same way as the topper and wound Gold and Silver glitter threads three times around it and made a quadruple bow to make it more big and prominent.
I stamped the sentiment 'Joy' in Gold onto a die cut scalloped oval and ink around with Silver ink then mounted it onto foam pads.

This picture is so much better to show off the Gold and silver Mirror Card, to do this I stamped the Reindeer in Gold then outlined it with a Tan coloured fineliner, I also did this for the Tree but used Silver and outlined it with a Light Grey coloured fineliner.  This made the stamped image to stand out and made it eye catching.  When dried I matted and Layered the topper onto a triangle of Gold and a Triangle of Silver this makes it interesting and different than just one colour.

For the inside of the card, it needed a little something other than just a plain insert.  I had an idea of using a 'Barbara Gray's' border style of using a ruler and a Gold Glitter pen and made a wobbly spiky lines for a border.  For the verse I used a Wooden Mounted Stamp from Stampendous called 'Wishing you a Christmas full of Joy and Peace' going with the Gold and Silver style card I inked this stamp with gold and silver ink so the colour style is going throughout the whole card.

 Method to Make:

  • Square white Card blank 7.5" x 5"
  • Gold and Silver Mirror card for mattering and layering
  • Hot Off The Press Enchanted Christmas Stamps - (from Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine Issue 102, I used their Reindeer, Tree and Joy Stamp)
  • Gold and Silver Metalic Ink Pad
  • Swiss Dots embossing folder from Provo Craft
  • Tan and light Grey Fineliner - (from Staedtler)
  • Scalloped Oval die cut - (cArt-Us Dies)
  • Gold and Silver Glitter Threads
  • Punched Star and Snowflakes
  • White Paper for insert
  • 'Wishing you a Christmas full of Joy and Peace - (from Stampendous (wooden mounted stamp))
  • Gold Glitter Pen

I Hope you like it!
